Come enjoy an evening of favorite love songs on Saturday, February 11, 7:00 pm at Buffalo United Methodist Church.  You’ll hear Heart and Soul by Hoagy Carmichael, Dream, Dream, Dream by the Everly Brothers, and That’s the Way Love Goes by Merle Haggard, and many more classics.

The musicians are John Hagen from ‘The JARS’ joined with Dottie & Glenn Johnson from ‘Home Before Dark,’ and Kenny Wurm to form “Heart Strings.”  If you’ve ever been in love, your heart will be warmed singing along!

Delectable desserts ala Valentine’s Day will be served following the program, and a freewill offering will be received.  This concert is part of the monthly Saturday Awakenings programs at the church.

Chili Feed and Game Night

Mark your calendars for a night of food and fellowship at the Chili Cook Off/Game night on Sunday, January 29 from 4-7 pm!  This will be a kick-off for our church’s annual cribbage tournament, but for those who don’t play cribbage we’ll have other games available as well.  Here are ways to be involved:

  • Sign up for the cribbage tournament and plan to play your first round that night.
  • Bring favorite games to the fellowship hall and enjoy them with some new players.
  • Enter a pot of your favorite chili in the Chili Cook Off Contest for a $5 entry fee.
  • Come and eat, sampling the different chili recipes as well as other foods available for your meal.  A free-will offering will be received.
  • Vote on the best chili by placing quarters in the bucket next to your favorite.  The chili earning the most quarters will be declared the winner and All-Church-Chili-Champ.

All proceeds from this event will go to support our summer youth mission trip to Kentucky.  All are welcome – please come!

Journey to Hope

Posted by laurieschroeder on February 3, 2012 under Uncategorized

We’re all on a journey of one kind or another.  Sometimes we set goals and we’re able to move toward them with intention and planning.  At other times, regardless of our “best laid plans” and GPS entries, life will put roadblocks, construction zones and flat tires in our way.  Since we never know for sure what’s around the next bend in our lives, I invite you to come on a Journey to Hope.  This is a trip where the route is less important than the destination, and you can take the trip whether you’re in a rough patch of life or smooth sailing.  Hope is found in knowing God and letting Him navigate your way.
We invite you to join our congregation on a Journey to Hope this spring beginning with Ash Wednesday on February 22 right up to Easter Sunday, April 8.  Every Wednesday night we’ll gather at 6 pm for supper, and then at 6:40 pm for worship and study which moves us toward hope.  Special children’s classes for K-6th grade and youth gatherings will take place at the same time.   If you could use more hope in your life, please come along with us.  You can pack light!
