Pastor Emeritus

Ministry Description
When I said "yes" to God's call for the ministry, I also said "I'll go any place
and do any thing where the Lord leads me". It's been a rich and blessed
life of ministry for over 56 years. Thanks be to God.

Most recent ministry:
Pastor Del officially retired for the second (third?) time as of December 31, 2003.
Prior to his "retirement", Del wrote:
Even though I am officially retired as of June 28, 1989, my ministry is
on-going. I continue to minister/serve the people of Buffalo UMC
preaching, teaching, doing chapel services at nursing homes,
doing hospital calls, home visitation, serving communion, baptisms,
weddings, funerals, and doing some committee assignments. I continue
to work with the UM Men's fellowship and others within the church.

Under the Conference Superintendant's direction, I have assisted other
neighboring congregations in their official business as well as filling
pulpits for vacationing pastors in the area.
He will always be our Pastor Emeritus.

Past ministry:
In the past, I was with two congregations in remodeling their parsonage
and with four congregations as they either built or added on to their church.

It was an honor and privilege to be asked by the Bishop to be a district
superintendant for the Southwest district with office in Mankato for five
years.

At Farmington, we wrote the first Basis of Union which was used as a
Minnesota Conference model for two churches--a former Methodist and a
former Evangelical United Brethen-- to unite together as a United
Methodist Church. This was the first one in Minnesota!

  • Conference Committee on Nominations (8 years).
  • Conference and District Comittee on Superintendency (4 years).
  • District Council of Administration (4 years).
  • District Committee for Church Building and Location (4 years).
Favorite Bible Verse
2 Timothy 1:11-12-- "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and
Apostle and teacher; but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have
believed and I am sure that He is able to guard until that day what
has been entrusted to me."

Faith Statement
I believe that God in His love came to me to cleanse my heart, fill my heart
with forgiveness and grace by Jesus Christ on the cross. God enables me
with wisdom and knowledge to follow His will; He fills my life with the
Holy Spirit to do the will of God. God's love in Jesus Christ has enabled
me to love people,to teach the scriptures, and to do the most wonderful
work ever give to common people. I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me.
