Our pastor’s sermon title on Easter Sunday was “And That Changes Everything!” It is such a fitting phrase for people of faith, living in the light of the resurrection. The promise of eternal life was fulfilled, and even more importantly it became available to everyone! These days it can be hard to live a hope-filled life. There seem to be so many things out of our control – the economy, including gas prices, weather disasters and anomolies, wars and disputes both near and far around the world.

It’s easy to become cynical or even apathetic, yet I find that most people who do are not very happy or satisfied people. None of us asked to be born. Life isn’t always what we want it to be, but it’s certainly a lot easier to navigate day to day if you can find hope. I find hope in knowing there is a God who loves me, a savior who understands my suffering, and spirit-filled people who let love shine through them into my life. If you would like become more hope-filled, we welcome you to come and be part of the community of faith at Buffalo United Methodist Church. We’re all different sorts of people, united by our faith, but open to conversations and dialogues that help us find hope for the world and for our souls.

Embrace “The Magic of Winter”

The Buffalo United Methodist Church presents a special seasonal concert on Saturday, December 3 at 7 pm. Performers Marienne Kreitlow and Jerry Ford weave together original and traditional music of the season with selected works of the great and timeless poets, including Robert Frost, Ogden Nash, Robert Burns, and William Shakespeare. Between them, they play numerous musical instruments – piano, psaltery, flute, Irish whistles, hand percussion – frosted by tight vocal harmonies. Ford’s voice will bring these classics to life, while Kreitlow’s music taps into the beauty, joy, and hilarity of weathering winter in Minnesota.

In addition to the wonderful music, the Buffalo Art Guild will have a winter art display that can be viewed just prior to the concert at 6:30 pm, or following the concert while enjoying refreshments. Several local artists will participate.

A freewill offering will be received. This concert is part of the monthly Saturday Awakenings programs at the church.
