Welcome to Buffalo United Methodist Church's website!
It sure seems like we're living in shifting sands...things are changing day by day, and honestly even hour by hour. Good thing that God is unchanging in his love for us, and will be with us through whatever comes. Stand firm in God's mercy and grace in these uncertain times. Pray that we become more united, compassionate, and loving human beings, and live with hopefulness!
In the meantime, we'll be doing everything in virtual ways! Our Facebook Premier Sunday worship is at 9:00 am every Sunday morning. We hope you will join us and interact live with the premier if you're able, but the video will also remain posted on Facebook and YouTube with links on our worship page for later viewing (use the menu above). The church building is not open, but you can still call during our regular business hours of 9:00 am-3:00 pm T-W-Th, and 9:00 am-1:00 pm on Fridays, and of course may email at any time.
Find out what's going on in ministry and worship in our Weekly Connection.

COVID-19 Precautions Update 1/14/21
Good News! The pandemic isn’t over yet, but the case rates in Wright County have been consistently decreasing since their peak at the end of November of 2020. Consequently, the Minnesota Annual Conference has dialed forward our Regathering Plan for Churches as of January 14, 2020. We are now in the “orange” phase again and are still taking a cautious approach, uncertain of whether there will be another wave of infections. Nevertheless, we are able to relax a few precautions. Most notably: 1) AA Groups will be allowed to resume meeting in the Education Wing in groups of 10 or fewer; and 2) Pastor Bill will now offer indoor memorial services of ten or fewer (masks, physical distancing) at managed offsite locations such as funeral chapels (outdoor interment services also continue to be an option as well as Zoom services). Pastor Bill has attached a comprehensive update on where our church stands regarding COVID practices and next steps, both indoors and outdoors. Please take the time to carefully read it HERE. You can also read the updated FAQs: COVID and the Church. You can read the Bishop's letter HERE.

Caring for God's Creation Hopeful EarthKeepers at Buffalo UMC
We were not made apart from creation, but as an integral part of it. Our search for meaning in this live is futile without a deep knowledge of the roles God has given us for caring for this earth. Just as we receive many blessings through God’s earth and we are called in turn to be a blessing to the earth. Our church is forming a group called Hopeful EarthKeepers to provide resources, activities and inspiration for creation care at all levels - personal, community, global. For information on becoming part of the group, click HERE. All are welcome!
Rain Gardens - Rain gardens are a wonderful way to mitigate runoff from pavement and roofs, while providing beauty, habitat for wildlife, and sources of pollination for our important insects. We plan to install one behind the shed on our church grounds, and you may want to think about putting one in at your home. To help you learn more, we have posted a video on our Buffalo UMC Hopeful EarthKeepers YouTube channel. Click here to watch it. Also, if you would like more detailed information on installing one, here are some wonderful links from credible sources:
How and Why to Build a Rain Garden, University of Minnesota Extension Service
Rain Gardens-A How-to Manual for Homeowners, Department of Natural Resources
Rain Gardens, Lake Superior Duluth Streams
Tips for Designing and Planting a Rain Garden, Bachman's
Rain Garden, Healthy Lakes Fact Sheet
Nature Inspired Art - As part of our worship series, we'll be posting some videos of people sharing the ways that God's creation and nature inspire them and connects them more closely to God. First, we have local artist Ashley Dull Lindeman sharing how her paintings are influenced by the awe of nature. Click HERE to see her inspiring video!
Pollinator Garden - Have you ever thought about planting a pollinator garden to attract and provide habitat for our important bees, butterflies and other insects? Perhaps not a whole garden, but a planter or two on your patio would do. Watch this informative and inspiring video by The Knutson Family from Cokato! Even if you don't plant anything, you will learn a lot about these important plants and insects.
